Windham, NH, January 17, 2018– The team at Canopus Water Technologies Inc. is very excited to announce it has shipped its first product, the C-UV100 just eight months after its inception.
Dr. Benzerrouk, Founder & CEO commented “Today marks a major milestone for Canopus with the shipment of our flagship product. The C-UV100 is the only UVC LED product in the market capable to deliver a three-log reduction with over 20 gpm flow rate”. The product will be integral in a research program led by Profs. Soni M Pradhanang and Thomas Boving of the University of Rhode Island. The research is entitled “Assessing the Efficiency of UVC-LED Disinfection on Chemical Composition of Water Including DBP Precursors”. According to Prof. Soni Pradhanang, Principal Investigator, “this unit opens up many opportunities to my graduate and undergraduate students who are keen on understanding how various disinfection systems work and whether or not these systems produce harmful by-products. We intend to publish our work in reputed journal that will definitely provide added value to this C-UV100 product. We are thankful to Canopus for putting together a benchtop system to test in our lab”. Prof. Boving added “this innovative UVC LED product can possibly find applications beyond water disinfection, such as the destruction of photosensitive pollutants found in contaminated source water”.
Graduate students Maxwell Meadows and Hichem Hadjeres are incorporating the C-UV100 in their research on water disinfection. “We are both very grateful for our relationship with Canopus. It creates a wide range of possibilities for discovering innovative water management solutions.”
